January 19, 2018 Update

I don't have a great update this week. After a 1.8 lbs loss last week, I made horrible food choices this week - I actually ate two chocolate bars! The main reason for my lack of discipline was hubby being sick with pneumonia and work being crazy busy so we went to the take out menu way too often this week.

This resulted in a gain of 1.8 lbs.

My lesson learned this week: make sure I go grocery shopping on the weekend so that I have all the necessary food on hand when I'm ready to cook supper.

Anyhow - no excuses - and I really need to do better next week...

Here are my weekly stats:
  • Weight: 165.6 lbs (up 1.8) for a total loss so far of 29 lbs
  • Fat %: 40.1 (no change)
  • BMI: 27.6 (up from 27.3)

  1. You are very brave to do this publicly. I've dieted and failed so many times on my blog that I think it is expected of me now. I hope you are past the cravings hurdle now. Congratulations on losing 29 pounds! That's wonderful!

Instant Pot Butternut Squash Soup

Instant Pot Butternut Squash Soup I did change a few things though: Replaced the coconut milk with 10% cream Only put half of the oregano and Herbs de Provence (and I thought it was enough) Did not use cayenne pepper (I'm not a huge fan of hot food) And it comes out delicious every time! But I decided to start this blog today because I want accountability and I figured I might have some knowledge to share. I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one in my situation so I hope visitors will find some motivation here to get to a healthier them as well. Back in 2004, when I was 35 years old, I really wanted to get healthier and I embarked on a journey to lose weight and get in shape. I went from weighting 165 lbs to 129 lbs and about 12% body fat by the Spring of 2006. I LOVED how I felt and how I looked. I even quit smoking during that time so I was by far the healthiest I had been in all my life. And then my life was turned upside down. I separated from my kids' father, changed jobs, moved and met someone new in about a 6 month period. Fast forward to August 2017...  I started smoking again, I ate everything in sight and didn't move AT ALL! I woke up one
