Welcome to My Year of Healthy!
My journey to a healthier me has been a very private one up until now. But I decided to start this blog today because I want accountability and I figured I might have some knowledge to share. I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one in my situation so I hope visitors will find some motivation here to get to a healthier them as well.
Back in 2004, when I was 35 years old, I really wanted to get healthier and I embarked on a journey to lose weight and get in shape. I went from weighting 165 lbs to 129 lbs and about 12% body fat by the Spring of 2006. I LOVED how I felt and how I looked. I even quit smoking during that time so I was by far the healthiest I had been in all my life.
And then my life was turned upside down. I separated from my kids' father, changed jobs, moved and met someone new in about a 6 month period.
Fast forward to August 2017... I started smoking again, I ate everything in sight and didn't move AT ALL! I woke up one morning and decided something needed to change. I signed up for Weight Watchers online and got on this journey.
My starting weight on August 4, 2017 was 194 lbs. I couldn't believe it and I wanted to cry! I had managed to gain 65 lbs in 11 years, I was out of shape and I didn't feel good at all.
Since then, I've lost 24.4 lbs on the Weight Watchers plan. I feel much better (my knees and feet don't hurt as much anymore) and I feel as though I look a lot better!
Over the holidays, I splurged a little bit more than I wanted so I'm pressing the "Reset" button today and moving onto part 2 of this journey. I will post here with an update weekly. I also plan on sharing tips, tricks and recipes I use to stay on track.
Here are my stats as of today:
